How I Switched
I started out at a smaller insurance company in France, managing distribution networks and organizing events for our agent base. The real shift happened when I joined Mutaprime Assurances, first in a project and performance role based in the UK, then a move to Luxembourg where I was promoted to lead Health & Services, and eventually Personal Insurance. Staying at the same company through that progression meant I didn't have to prove myself from scratch each time, but I did have to keep adapting, to a new country, a new team, and a much bigger scope of responsibility, more than once.
How I Solved
The recurring challenge I kept running into was getting sales agents and bancassurance partners aligned on the same approach, especially as claims processes and customer expectations around service kept evolving, and that got trickier once I was managing teams across different countries, where "good service" meant something slightly different in each market. I leaned heavily on coaching and structured sales processes, along with closer collaboration between underwriting, claims, and the distribution network, to turn that friction into something productive. The goal wasn't just to hit sales targets, but to build the kind of trust with clients and partners that keeps a book of business healthy over the long run.
How I Landed
Moving from France to the UK, then from the UK to Luxembourg, within the same company still meant relearning how things worked locally each time: different regulatory expectations, different team dynamics, different ways of doing business with local partners. What helped most was building relationships with people already established in each market before I needed them, rather than waiting until I had a specific ask. I also learned to be upfront with my managers about wanting more international exposure, that internal mobility doesn't happen by accident, you usually have to ask for it.
